The Hilary Duff film will come to Blu-ray on January 19th, 2010 from Starz/Anchor Bay Home Entertainment. The film is expected to have a limited run theatrically prior to release, but it looks like the home video plans are set and finalized. According to retailer listings though, the film has been retitled to ‘According to Greta’ for U.S. release.

2009’s most anticipated Hilary film, GRETA is assumed to be confirmed by Online DVD stores to come out on DVD on November 25th, 2009 in Australia, New Zealand and Latin America. Those are, so far, the only confirmed regions which will have an early DVD release.
No word yet about international and theatrical releases. However, the producers of the film are talking about a limited USA theatrical release during the fall.
Pre-order your copy today. Only a few countries are able to pre-order. More and more online DVD stores will list this film soon as the release date approaches.

A quanto pare secondo alcuni siti australiani, il film in Australia uscirà direttamente in dvd il 25 Novembre 2009.
La notizia sembra abbastanza ufficiale e attendibile anche perchè un utente del forum hilaryfan.com ha mandato un'email allo scrittore di "Greta" per sapere qualcosa sull'uscita del film, ed ecco la sua risposta: "It sounds like GRETA is going to get a limited theatrical release this fall. I'm not sure how limited and I don't know the exact release date yet either. But there should be an announcement pretty soon." In pratica dice che il film in America avrà un rilascio limitato nei cinema quest'autunno, però non si sanno ancora le date specifiche. Dovrebbe esserci un annuncio molto presto.Quindi ricapitolando...sembra piuttosto ufficiale che il film uscirà quest'autunno in maniera limitata negli Stati Uniti, e direttamente in dvd in Australia e in altri stati.

It looks like the most-awaited Hilary film is going to be released unnoticed.
Icon Movies UK has confirmed that Greta will be coming out straight-to-DVD in early 2010. The closest thing we got to ‘theatrical‘ was a pointless private advanced screening where a few lucky fans were able to watch it in advance. Three years of waiting and all we get is this? I personally think it’s the distributors’ fault.

"Greta" US Distribution Confirmed!

Greta has indeed scored distribution for the US!
A release date should be announced soon. The movie was planned to premiere during the 2009 Cannes Film Festival with the help of Voltage Pictures, but the idea was canned. Stories of straight-to-DVD rumors started to pop up, but Voltage quickly denied it.
Here’s a quote from a writer of the film:
"From what I understand, the producers of GRETA have just recently secured domestic (US) distribution for the film, which means there should be a release date announced soon. I’m hoping it will come out this fall, but I haven’t heard anything yet."

A user from IMDb posted seemingly accurate information about Greta along with its premiere. The information remains a rumor.

The movie is rumored to premiere on November 27 this year with a limited run. The film is also reported to have international rights, particularly with Australia, which is already licensed for a theatrical run.

Speaking of locations, the movie will only show in a few states, such as New York, LA, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, and Portland.

Hilary’s anticipated and upcoming film, Greta, already has a deal for international distribution, but still has no deal for distribution within the USA.
A reader from the Oh No They Didn’t! community posted a response containing an email he received from a screenwriter of the film, Michael Gilvary.

"The movie has foreign distribution, but they’re still making a deal for US distribution. Unfortunately, I have no idea when it will be released. Soon, I hope. Keep an eye out for it!"

Voltage woos Greta to Cannes

Voltage Pictures has bulked up its Cannes slate with the eleventh hour acquisition of the teen drama Greta starring Hilary Duff, Ellen Burstyn and Melissa Leo.
Nancy Bardawil directed from Michael Gilvary’s screenplay about a prickly teenager who discovers her gentler side and finds romance when she is spends one summer with her grandparents on the Jersey Shore.
Evan Ross plays the love interest and Michael Murphy stars as the protagonist’s grandfather.
Voltage’s Nicolas Chartier brokered the deal with Jerome Duboz of William Morris Independent and will introduce the project on the Croisette this week.
Chartier was one of the few buyers who enjoyed a busy EFM and will be looking to maintain that momentum with a Cannes slate that includes thriller The Whistleblower starring Rachel Weisz as a police officer who exposes a United Nations cover-up in post-war Bosnia.

"Without giving away too much, here's my short interpretation of Greta. It's a funny movie with some serious tones of suicide and relationships between the characters. In the end, I'm glad that I watched Greta. When I went in to see the movie, I actually thought I would come out not liking it at all, thinking it might be a teeny bopper movie. Sure, it dealt with teens angst, but the movie had it's good moments. I have never laughed so much in a Hilary Duff movie as I did with Greta. Right off, you can see the character Greta and not Hilary Duff as the person playing the role. I couldn't see Lizzie at all.
Here's what I didn't like about Greta:
I wish she would improve on her crying scenes. There are some moments that dragged on, but this movie is definitely different. I noticed the director must have cut out a lot of scenes because I was expecting Greta to turn her neighbor's dog's hair color to blue and a scene at the beach where she gets rescued. I think the end was too short and not at all a great ending. It just seemed too abrupt for an ending and an ending that seemed too unrealistic. The movie wasn't a fantastic great movie, but for me, it was good. I'd buy it if it ever comes out on DVD."

"I'll just leave a review of the entire night, hope you guys don't mind...
It was a good movie and my cousin and I had a lot of fun. We arrived at around 4, three hours ahead of time. Really early, I know, I just didn't know what to expect, how many people would be there, ect.
At first I was wondering if maybe I was in the wrong area, because I was expecting a long, long line and no one was there. After one of the theaters confirmed it was playing at around 7, we walked around the mall, got food, drove around for a little while and came back at 6:15. This time, there was easily over 100 people separated into two lines. I was surprised to see that it wasn't little girls. Most of the people were around 18-mid 20's there were even a few elderly women (a group of them were in front of me). A little after we got in line, security approached us and asked us for our paper passes and our names to confirm we were on the list. Then (I'm guessing to pass time) the guards started talking to random people in the line, asking if we were here for Hilary Duff and why we liked her. I was one of the first people they asked, and I figured they would because I was one of the only black men there so I definitely stood out. I told the man that I liked her ever since Lizzie McGuire and that I've been looking forward to this movie since I first hard about it in the last few months of 07'. We talked a little bit more about the purpose of the screening, other artists, famous people he'd met until around 6:35 when they started letting us into the theater. They continued seating people until around 7:10. Producers, people who represented various distributors, even Susan Duff were there. I figured important people would be attending, because when you walked into theater, some of the seats were covered with blue tape, which meant they were being reserved. Most people didn't recognize Susan. She entered quickly, by herself and didn't bring any attention to herself and sat down close to the front. Then at 7:15, a producer of the movie (I think it was Rick Rosenthal but I'm not 100 percent sure) came to the front to give an introductory speech thanking everyone for coming and explaining that usually the cast would be here but that Hilary was busy in North Carolina, Evan was busy in New York and that he wasn't busy so he'd be there for the night. Everyone laughed. By that time, the theater was packed, every single seat. They were even offering people in the higher seats money to sit closer to the bottom because the producers important people didn't wanna sit so close up. There were even people on the floor of the isles. I guess they didn't expect so many people.
THE MOVIE:
Anyway, the movie started. No commercials, no advertisements, it started right away (Probably because it was suppose to start twenty minutes before it did). It starts in indie fashion, kinda like Juno if you guys saw that one. The credits role, the actors are introduced. Hilary is hilarious right from the start. The opening scene she's on a bus and she does something to the fat guy next to her that had everyone laughing. She does whatever she wants, she says whatever she wants to whoever she wants whenever she wants to say it. There were so many parts where the entire audience laughed. She basically walked into a store and bossed her way into getting the job, she told the manager she was hired, when she'd start and what she would be doing there. She didn't follow any of her grandmothers rules, she was rude to the neighbor (even threatened her), rude to the customers that she helped at work. I don't wanna give away too much, but it was funny, had it's sad moments and all in all was enjoyable. The audience seemed really into it and even my cousin who's in his 'too cool to like teeny bobbers' phase liked it, so I guess that's a good sign.
My only problems with the movie were that I didn't feel much from Evan, I wish they would've chosen a better actor. I didn't feel like he really liked her, he wasn't very expressive. And I would've liked to know the mom a bit more, she was barely in the movie. Also I can tell there were a lot of deleted scenes. I saw a picture of Hilary painting something on the beach with her hair pinned back, that wasn't included in the movie. Neither were the parts where she was on the roof with a lap top, or the part where she was walking in the green dress getting ice cream from a man. Hilary was great for her standards though. As an actress, she's getting there. Some of her scenes were seriously impressive and she showed she's not completely talentless, again. She totally stole the show. She was the best actor of the film. It could be because most of the other people didn't get a whole lot of screen-time, but she owned. I'd rate the film a B.
Also, at the end of the movie, the audience gave a round of applause. And they gave us little booklets kinda like the one she had in the movie. They were kinda cool. I tried to look for Susan to say hi or something, but I couldn't find her. I guess she made a quick exit. lol"

In sintesi, questo ragazzo dice che c'era tantissima gente, più di quanto ci si aspettava. Si è stupito del fatto che non era pieno di ragazzine, ma che invece c'erano ragazzi tra i 18 e i 28 anni. Non c'era nessun attore del cast (a causa degli impegni lavorativi di ognuno), ma c'erano diverse persone molto importanti (tra cui Susan, la mamma di Hil). Il film è stato gradito grossomodo da tutti e Hilary ha dimostrato di essere cresciuta molto nella recitazione. Ci sono stati molti momenti divertenti, in cui il pubblico ha riso, e anche momenti tristi, anch'essi apprezzati. Nel complesso, il pubblico era molto interessato al film, che ha preso subito tutti. Alcune scene (come quelle in cui Hilary pitturava o mangiava un gelato indossando un vestito verde) non sono state inserite. L'attore migliore del film è stata Hilary! Alla fine del film tutto il pubblico ha applaudito! L'unica cosa negativa è stata la recitazione di Evan Ross, che non era molto espressivo. Nel complesso il film è stato valutato con bel 9!

Ok, I have been home for a few days and its already time to go back out : (
I am going to New Jersey to shoot this cool independent movie called Greta. I read the script about two years ago and fell in love with it. It is a character driven movie, so I will be playing a true character with very complicated life challenges. I am psyched about this project! I also get to be on the East Coast during Fall which is my fav time of the year. I think I am going to take Lola. The last time I took her on a plane, she did extremely well. She misses me too much when I am gone.
I am also going to the MTV Latin America Awards in Mexico next month! I wanted everyone to know that I will be coming overseas soon; my management team has been working diligently on a schedule to make sure that we cover every market. So, please be patient and hopefully soon we will have a complete schedule. Well, I have 2 finish packing, I'll talk to you guys sooner than later...

It is good to be 20! I have been in NJ working on the set of my new independent film, Greta. It is a very different and challenging character driven role. I am up for the challenge! Evan Ross and Ellen Burstyn co-star in it with me. It is a true coming of age and realizing what life is really about for the character. I just shot a scene where I have to be in the water and it was cooooolllld. I am having a gr8 time in NJ and trying to take it one day at a time.
I wanted to thank you guys for all of the cards and gifts and candy and flowers and artwork that you sent me for my birthday. U made me feel the love and I really laughed at some of the creative and funny notes u sent. What an honor it is to have cool friends and fans from all over! On my birthday, I did some shopping in the Big Apple and had a nice quiet dinner. Being 20 feels no different, I guess when I'm 60 my outlook will change. Anyway, I am going to be back and forth from NY to NJ for a while, and who knows, I am getting used to the East Coast. I like how everyone is so real and in your face.

Gotta go, they are calling me to set.

Ok, sono stata a casa per alcuni giorni ed è già tempo di andarsene.
Sto andando in New Jersey per filmare questo fichissimo film indipendente chiamato Greta. Ho letto il copione 2 anni fa e me ne sono subito innamorata.E' un film guidato dal personaggio ed avrò la parte di un personaggio vero che affronterà sfide molto complicate della vita. Questo progetto mi fa impazzire! Andrò anche sulla Costa Est in autunno che è la mia stagione preferita. Credo che porterò Lola. L' ultima volta che l' ho portata sull' aereo è stata molto brava. Le manco molto quando sono via.Andrò anche agli MTV Latin America Awards (MTV Awards dell' America Latina) in Messico il mese prossimo! Vi comunico che verrò presto in Europa, i miei manager hanno lavorato bene sul programma per essere sicuri di poter coprire tutti i mercati. Quindi abbiate pazienza e se tutto va bene presto avremo un programma completo....Ciao per Adesso!

E' bello essere ventenne! Sono stata in New Jersey lavorando sul set del mio nuovo film indipendente, Greta. E' un personaggio con un ruolo diverso e impegnativo. Sono pronta per la sfida! Evan Ross e Ellen Burstyn recitano con me nel film. E' una vera e propria maturazione rendendosi conto di come sia realmente la vita del personaggio che interpreto. Ho appena girato una scena dove devo stare nell' acqua ed era freddaaaaa! Sto bene in New Jersey e sto cercando di godermela giorno per giorno.Volevo ringraziarvi ragazzi per tutti i biglietti, i regali, le caramelle, i fiori e i disegni che mi avete mandato per il mio compleanno. Mi avete fatto sentire affetto e ho riso per alcuni divertenti e creativi biglietti che mi avete inviato. Che onore avere questi fantastici amici e fans dappertutto! Il giorno del mio compleanno ho fatto shopping a New York e ho fatto una cena tranquilla. Essere ventenne non ti fa sentire diverso, credo che quando avrò 60 anni le mie prospettive cambieranno. Comunque sto per tornare da New York al New Jersey per un po' attraverso la Costa est. Mi piace come ognuno sia così autentico e sincero.Devo andare mi stanno chiamando sul set.

Ciao voglio dare a tutti un aggiornamento su quello che mi è successo durante le settimane passate. Ero a New York per la premiere di War, Inc. E' stato fantastico vedere tutti interessati al film, ed avere una risposta dal pubblico! Poi ho dovuto rigirare qualche scena del film Greta in New Jersey , ma è stato solo per una notte. E' una scena dove camminavo fuori e dentro e dall'acqua freddissima !! Vi faccio vedere due foto divertenti ragazzi, dopo la scena avevo i piedi blu e i ragazzi hanno dovuto prendere un secchio con dell'acqua calda dentro per riscaldare i miei piedi, tra una scena e un'altra. Faceva molto molto freddo, volevo immergere tutto il mio corpo nella bacinella! Guardate il mio piede com'è blu!!! Dopo Mike doveva fare un piccolo intervento chirurgico, da fare a Vail, quindi sono andata lì per fare l'infermiera per lui! E' così bello là, ma sono stata molto tesa! Ora sono a Los Angeles con tutti i miei cuccioli, Gloomy e Mouse Cookie. Oggi ho voglia di scattare foto nuovo, e appena posso le posterò. E' molto caldo a Los Angeles, ci sono quasi 40 gradi. Incredibile vero? Anche qui son stata solo per due giorni ,poi sono dovuta andare in Florida a fare qualche lavoro di beneficienza per Blassing In A Backpack. Vi farò sapere come sta andando. Vi auguro una grande settimana! Ciao !!

Hilary Duff è la protagonista di Greta, una commedia agrodolce prodotta dalla Whitewater Films e diretta da Nancy Bardawil. Accanto alla bionda popstar e attrice americana ci saranno anche Ellen Burstyn, Michael Murphy ed Evan Ross.

Greta (Hilary) è una ragazza che s'innamora perdutamente dell'ambizioso chef che lavora nello stesso ristorante nel quale lei è stata assunta come cameriera. Durante la loro storia d'amore però lei dovrà affrontare il parere contrario dei suoi nonni, che non vedono di buon occhio il fidanzato, che ha precedenti penali. Ad Evan Ross è stato affidato il ruolo del fidanzato di Greta, mentre alla Burstyn e a Murphy, i ruoli dei suoi nonni.

Il film, le cui riprese si sono svolte nel New Jersey, segna il debutto alla regia della Bardawil, che finora ha diretto solo videoclip. La regista lavorerà sulle basi di una sceneggiatura elaborata da Michael Gilvary.
